SEVEN-MINUTE SLIPPERS
Size: Ladies' (Men's)
Materials: approximately 3 oz. 4-ply worsted-weight yarn
Gauge: 5 stitches/7 rows = 1 inch
Suggested Tension: 7 or 8 EON on standard gauge machine; 4 on bulky
Closed cast-on 36 (40) stitches. Knit 8 rows. Carriage at right.
Set machine to Hold Position.
Short row down to 7 (9) stitches and back out for the heel. For longer slippers, add 2 plain rows here. Repeat short rows down to 9 stitches for both sizes. Bind off by taking 6 or 7 stitches off on the latch tool at a time. This gathers the bind-off.
Add pompons or knitted flowers at bind-off, or sew on a button.
Baby Slippers:
Cast on 20 stitches and knit 6 rows. Short row down to 5 for heel and repeat for toe. Decrease 6 stitches evenly across the row. Knit 2 rows. Bind off 4 stitches at a time. Add cords on sides to tie.
For 2-3 year-old cast on 24 stitches. Short row down to 5 for heel and repeat for toe. Bind off 4 stitches at a time.
5-year size cast on 28 stitches. Short row down to 5 for heel and repeat for toe. Bind off 4 stitches at a time.
