Yarn:  2 strands 2/24

Tension 1/1 for rib  9 for tuck

Gauge 6.75 sts/inch  14.5 rows/inch

Pattern:  Single bed tuck

              Passap 1005/130

              Punch card 4 sts/12 rows repeat  OXXX for 4 rows; 2 rows plain; XXOX for 4 rows; 2 rows plain

Cast on 89 (95) sts for 1x1 rib.  Knit 20 (22) rows.  Transfer sts to main bed.  (I sometimes do the same number of rows in 1x1 mock ribbing and hang a hem.)

RC 000

Set tension to 9 and work tuck stitch to RC 40 (50).

Transfer every 4th stitch to adjacent needle and put empty needles out of work.

Knit 6 rows while turning the tension down by .. every row.

Transfer the middle stitch of every set of 3 sts to adjacent needle and put empty needles out of work.

Knit 6 rows while turning down tension by .. every row.  (Tension should be at 1 at this point.)

Take off with double-eye needle.  Sew side seam.  Tighten and tie top.  Fold ribbing over outside of hat.
